How the monthly budget is calculated

It starts with your daily cost and scales up:

Monthly cost = (Daily distance ÷ Mileage) × Price × Days driven

The daily cost is the litres your commute uses multiplied by the fuel price. Multiply by the days you drive for the monthly figure, and by twelve months for the yearly total.

FAQs about your fuel budget

How do I estimate my monthly fuel cost?

Work out the daily cost as (daily distance ÷ mileage) × fuel price, then multiply by the number of days you drive in a month.

Can you show an example?

Driving 40 km a day at 18 km/L with fuel at 95 per litre costs about (40 ÷ 18) × 95 = 211 a day, or roughly 6,333 a month over 30 days, in whatever currency you choose.

How do I handle days I don’t drive?

Use the days-per-month field to match how often you actually drive — set it to 22 for weekdays only, or 30 for daily use.

How can I reduce my monthly fuel spend?

Combine trips, hold a steady speed, keep the vehicle serviced, car-pool where possible, and use public transport for routine commutes.

Does this work for petrol, diesel, and CNG?

Yes. The maths is the same — enter the relevant price and your vehicle’s efficiency for that fuel (km/L, or km/kg for CNG).

Fuel prices change — which rate should I use?

Use today’s pump price in your area for the closest estimate, since fuel rates are revised often.
