Fuel trip cost calculator
Enter your trip distance, your vehicle’s mileage, and the current fuel price to see the total fuel cost instantly. Works for petrol, diesel, and CNG.
How the fuel cost is calculated
The formula is simple:
First the distance is divided by your mileage to find how many litres the trip needs. That figure is multiplied by the price you pay per litre. Turn on round trip and the distance is doubled before the maths is done.
FAQs about fuel trip cost
How do I calculate the fuel cost for a trip?
Divide the trip distance by your vehicle’s mileage to get the litres needed, then multiply by the fuel price. For example, 100 km at 18 km/L and a price of 95 per litre works out to (100 ÷ 18) × 95 = 528, shown in whatever currency you choose.
What mileage figure should I use?
Most petrol cars return 15–20 km/L (about 35–47 mpg), diesel cars 18–25 km/L, and motorcycles 40–60 km/L. For the most accurate result, use your own recent km/L from the mileage calculator.
Does this include tolls or parking?
No. This tool estimates only the fuel cost of the trip. For tolls and multi-stop routes, use the trip planner.
How accurate is the estimate?
It is as accurate as the mileage and price you enter. Real-world mileage varies with traffic, load, air-conditioning, and driving style, so treat the result as a close estimate.
Can I use it for a round trip?
Yes. Turn on the round trip option and the distance is doubled automatically before the cost is worked out.
Does fuel type change the calculation?
The maths is the same for petrol, diesel, or CNG — just enter the right price and your vehicle’s efficiency for that fuel (km/L, or km/kg for CNG).
